Categories Fashion Jumpsuit In Transit 4th September 2017 How To Style A Denim Jumpsuit Getting Ready Time: about 45 minutes. Sorry guys, I forgot to time myself… but it was roughly about 45 minutes. The biggest challenge was finding the right bag. Surprisingly enough, most of the bags I own just felt too girly next to the jumpsuit. Continuing the series of my all-weather outfits… Can you believe that it’s September already? How can it even be possible?! I know we are talking about London here: a place where you have to check a calendar, not a thermometer, to know that summer has started, but it seems like only yesterday we were excited about it being June! And now all of a sudden- autumn is here. There is always something so sad about the start of September. It makes you start thinking about all the things you will have to give up in a few short weeks. You will no longer have an excuse to drink rose for breakfast, your tan will fade, and watermelon will be completely out of the question. But worst of all, you will have to endure a horrid process of the seasonal wardrobe swap. And while I do enjoy wearing all the chunky knits and sexy black boots, the thought of going through all my clothes to decide what am I going to give away/ store/ keep is just plain painful. No to mention, that the fact that I will no longer see my fellow Londoners out and about in their summer frocks is also quite upsetting. You see, in London, if the calendar tells you that it’s summer- you dress for summer. Much like the early Arctic explorers, women of London go out into the world braving all kinds of weather. Unlike the early Arctic explorers, they do so wearing cut off denim shorts, linen dresses and strappy sandals. These women are astonishing. With a simple act of wearing a tiny dress in a 13 C weather (aka UK summer), they prove that ‘where there is a will, there is a way’. But as much as I might admire others, I do not possess such a breath-taking strength of character myself. In temperatures under 25 C, I fold by putting on jeans and something that has sleeves. Truth be told, I have been wearing jeans and ‘something that has sleeves’ for the entire duration of this summer. So, it’s not like my fall wardrobe will change much for me, but at least I was relaxed, comfortable and warm for the entire summer. And sometimes a girl just wants to be comfortable and warm. Which in turns brings me to my last summer-y outfit: The Denim Jumpsuit. I love this jumpsuit by Citizens of Humanity. It was a spur of the moment purchase; I was in Harrods looking for a pair of new boyfriend jeans when I saw it. And naturally, I had to try it on, after which there was no turning back. It felt as easy as jeans and perhaps even more comfortable. But what sold it for me, is that for all its utilitarian history, this jumpsuit really makes a statement. It’s a little bit edgy and a little bit fun. The only thing is that a complete denim look that’s this dark does require a splash of colour, which is where the bag and the funky Union Jack loafers came in. To be honest, I can really see this outfit taking me all the way through October. I will perhaps swap the camisole for a turtleneck, and I might also require a cap (let’s face it- it will rain). But I’m not waiting until next summer to continue wearing this outfit. I like it too much.
